Based on the successful Vision range, the 5:5 benefits from Sands’ vast experience in the design and manufacture of self-propelled sprayers and uses the latest in engine and hydrostatic technology. With a low centre of gravity and a tight turning circle the 5.5 is highly manoeuvrable for a machine of this capacity.
Powered by a Deutz electronically governed six-cylinder engine the 5.5 boasts a high power to weight ratio offering excellent spraying performance even in the most arduous conditions. The engine is linked to the latest ‘SmartDrive’ Premier system, which has been developed by Poclain Hydraulics to optimise hydrostatic transmissions on self-propelled machines. Driving Dynadrive wheel motors with full dynamic disc brakes on all wheels the 5.5 complies with all legal road regulations. The ‘SmartDrive’ also automatically changes wheel motor displacements as forward speed is increased. This system can be further enhanced with Traction Control if required.
Fitted in the cab is both a foot brake and accelerator which can be used on the road for smooth and safe operation up to the machines maximum legal speed. The latest high visibility 'Vision' cab offers unrivalled comfort and space. Featuring digital climate control, top spec CD player and a new high back air seat with adjustable lumbar support. Available with booms from 24 to 40m the 5.5 is the largest capacity UK built self-propelled available. With the excellent reliability and back up associated with Sands’ machines the 5.5 is the natural choice for today’s large farming enterprises requiring maximum spraying performance.
